1st Annual MVHS Change the Wor(l)d Human Rights Film Festival

Thursday, June 4th was a big day for us. Matt's World Lit students spent 7 weeks reading, researching, filming & editing before unveiling their human rights documentaries to the world. Winners were selected in each of five categories: most educational, most inspirational, best tech, principal's pick (our principal really did choose the winner for this one) and Bryson's wildcard. The award-winning films were screened for a surprisingly large audience of 400 students, parents, family members, friends and administrators, and they were a huge hit. At the end of the evening, the audience chose the best picture by using special electronic voting devices on loan from our Science department. The whole evening was a huge success.

Though the student documentaries were outstanding and their acceptance speeches were entertaining, Bryson was the one who stole the show. He smiled, he waved, he even tried to eat the microphone. He was definitely the star. :)

Check out the amazing, award-winning student documentaries for yourself! Just go to http://matador.mvhs.fuhsd.org/cbp and type in the password "matador" (our school mascot) when prompted. Though all the films were noteworthy, "Children of War" was chosen as the 2009 Best Picture winner.

  1. He is just practicing for accepting his "Awards" later in life (like when he can stand up and talk. He looks so handsome - just like his daddy.
